Our base for this tour is the 4 star Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa at Wellesbourne set in 65 acres of stunning grounds, lovely gardens and surrounded by farmland. This modern hotel has a lift that allows flat access to most parts of the hotel, but some rooms still have stairs, bedrooms are fully en-suite, with tea & coffee making facilities. The restaurant and bar overlook the terrace and gardens. Leisure facilities with a small pool and treatment rooms are also available.
Picking up at local points we make our way to Royal Lemington Spa with is splendid architecture, wide boulevard, Regency Shopping Paradise and award winning parks. Arriving at the hotel well in time to freshen up before your evening meal.
Today's excursion explores the pretty Cotswold town of Morton in Marsh on market day, it is one of the principle market towns in the northern Cotswolds. Rounding off the day in Bourton-on-the-Water this vibrant village is nicknamed the Venice of the Cotswolds, it offers a wealth of attractions, including shops cafes and tearooms or simply sit by the river and enjoy the movement of the sparkling waters.
A short journey to Stratford-upon-Avon for a leisurely 40 minutes morning cruise on the river Avon. Followed by free time to experience the sights and ambience of this town synonymous with William Shakespeare, visit his birthplace in the centre of town which provides an insight into what shaped the great man. There are also shops, cafes and riverside gardens to enjoy before returning back to the hotel.
A morning coach journey touring around other splendid areas of the charming Cotswold countryside, with each area having its own identity famous for its honey-coloured stone architecture set amid gentle rolling countryside. In the afternoon visiting Batsford Arboretum & Garden Centre, home to many unique trees with a beautiful wildflower meadow.
After breakfast the time has come to bid farewell to our hosts, stopping off somewhere of interest before returning back to Lincolnshire with comfort stops en-route.
