Isle of Wight - The Golden Isle

The Isle of Wight has one of the UK's most spectacular and diverse coastlines, rugged and unspoilt, with numerous areas of outstanding natural beauty and award-winning beaches. Our base is the 3 star Trouville Hotel, Sandown offering excellent food and hospitality while occupying a commanding sea front position. The restaurant, lounge and bars boast stunning panoramic views across the sweep of Sandown Bay. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, TV and hospitality tray. All Double/Twin rooms have glorious sea views, there is a lift to all floors and evening entertainment is provided in the hotel.

Sunday

We make an early morning departure from your local points to travel down to the south coast with a suitable stop for lunch, boarding the ferry to the Isle of Wight and continue to the hotel, arriving in time for the evening meal.

Full Day

A Tour along the South Coast to the Needles at Alum Bay, to see the famous multi coloured sand cliffs breath-taking views of the Needles and lighthouse the most iconic scene on the Island, returning back to Sandown via the charming port of Yarmouth.

Today we travel inland to Havenstreet to board the steam train for a return journey, in the restored carriages and travel back in time to the golden age of train travel hauled by one of the magnificent steam engines, that will take you on a journey through the beautiful, unspoiled Isle of Wight countryside. In the afternoon we visit the quintessential village of Godshill, being the prettiest place on the Island with its charming cottages, medieval churches and tearooms. (Including a visit to the model village) Returning back to Sandown via Shanklin, enjoy a stroll along the seafront, or visit to Rylestone Gardens with the picturesque Shanklin old village with thatched cottages.

Visiting Osborne House which was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's favourite seaside retreat. You will see the state rooms where they entertained their important guests along with the sitting room and the balcony, where they used to listen to nightingales on a summers evening. Enjoy the gardens which surround the house and parkland with its historic trees many planted by Prince Albert himself.

Free Day

To explore Sandown, a traditional seaside resort with a long sweeping bay, array of shops lining the promenade and an elegant Victorian pier. Or you may want to visit one of the Islands many attractions using the local extensive bus service.

Sadly time to make your way back to the ferry for the homeward journey back to Lincolnshire with suitable refreshment and comfort stops as required.
