Eastbourne, a lovely resort set on the Sussex coast in a glorious location sheltered by the rolling South Downs and towering cliffs of Beachy Head. This stylish resort features a three-mile level promenade, wide tree lined streets with over 200 acres of beautifully laid out parks and gardens and the pier which is one of the best preserved in the UK.
With everyone on board, we make our journey south with suitable refreshment stops along the way. Today we visit the Georgian Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, at the heart of the original town is the colonnaded and paved tree-lined promenades named 'The Pantiles' which has a wide variety of shops, then continuing onto the hotel to freshen up and settle in before evening meal.
To Hever Castle and Gardens set in 125 acres of glorious award-winning grounds, where its romantic charm meets beautifully preserved history. Wander through lavishly furnished rooms and admire the impressive tapestries and Tudor portraits. This castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn which is steeped in captivating tales of royalty and intrigue.
A morning visit to Beachy Head with spectacular views across the English Channel and the Seven Sisters. In the afternoon enjoy a nostalgic trip back in time on the famous Bluebell Heritage Railway which operates both steam and diesel trains for a return train ride through the beautiful East and West Sussex countryside.
In the morning drive through the scenic Sussex countryside, then pass near Lewes before arriving at the cosmopolitan city of Brighton renowned for its Victorian pier, iconic Royal Pavilion and Gardens which is right next door to the Art Gallery and Museum. Today we explore the pretty seaside market town of Rye which has a mixture of beautiful Georgian and Medieval houses, and half-timbered buildings dotted along the cobbled streets. Moving on to the historic town of Hastings. Why not take a trip up the East Hill, the country's steepest funicular railway which offers fantastic views of the English Channel and the Old Town which has the largest beach landing fishing fleet in Europe. This popular fishing port is also better known now for the filming of the popular detective TV series Foyle's War.
This morning, we will make our way to Tenterten for a half day visit to The Jewel of the Weald surrounded by glorious countryside and heritage picturesque tree-lined high street. You may wish to visit the cute old fashion museum.
We bid farewell to our hosts, departing after breakfast making the homeward journey back to Lincolnshire, with suitable comfort and refreshment stops as required.
