Picking up at local points we make our way to National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas before carrying on to the hotel, where on arrival you will be served with tea/coffee and biscuits, while your luggage is transferred, giving you time to relax before evening meal.
A morning visit to Blists Hill Open Air Museum, this 52-acre site is a bustling recreation of a Victorian town. Step back in time to the year 1900 discover what life was like, be immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of Victorian life and get a glimpse of a new world shaped in industry or enjoy a drink in the New Inn, indulge with fish & chips or a bag of old-fashioned sweets. In the afternoon we take a journey to view the world's first Ironbridge over the River Severn which was erected in 1779 and take a leisure stroll across the bridge, see the fantastic views and take that iconic photograph.
Travel into Shrewsbury the birthplace of Charles Darwin. This is a pretty town with numerous black and white Tudor style buildings, cobbled streets, a Norman Castle, an Abbey and the Quarry, which is home to The Dingle, a floral masterpiece designed by Percy Thrower. Enjoy a relaxing 40-minute cruise aboard Sabrina, Shrewsbury's passenger boat, sailing around the picturesque River Severn loop from Victoria Quay including a commentary, tea/coffee & biscuits before returning back to the hotel.
To the market town of Bridgnorth before boarding the heritage train for a 16-mile journey for a one-way trip on the Severn Valley Railway, meandering through Shropshire countryside following the course of the River Severn for much of the route, and crossing the river on the historic bridge to the town of Kidderminster. This is followed by free time before returning back to the hotel.
After breakfast we start the homeward journey calling at RAF museum Cosford. There is time to explore the fascinating story of the RAF and the thousands of ordinary serviceman and women who have served in it, home to over 70 aircraft of international importance, adjacent to an active airfield with numerous exhibits, before returning back to Lincolnshire.
